Visual Art Technology

Welcome to the updated edition of the VISUAL ART TECHNOLOGY web page. I'm Frank Tomaszkiewicz, Art Tech Instructor. Hopefully this website will be an easy source of information for students and their parents.

The VISUAL ART TECHNOLOGY course was originally designed by business professionals in the Arts & Communications Industry cluster (advertising, computer-generated imaging, & television). These professionals wanted middle school students to be introduced to creative communication skills needed for '...jobs that don't exist as yet.' Art Tech provides students explorations in lasers, cameras, and computers. This occurs while emphasizing CAREER PATHWAY skills that our students will need for successful competition in the 21st Century Global Economy. In Art Tech, traditional imaging skills in visual art are blended with digital technologies.

Art Technology courses have two goals: first, to provide all enrolled students with a common set of digital technology skills, and secondly, to help all students understand that digital technologies can be effective forms of personal communication.

Final Grades for Hadley New Horizons (HNH) course Marking Periods will be given on the last day of each semester (January or June). MISSING WORK and MISSED CLASS SESSIONS can always be made up BEFORE SCHOOL ON MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, or FRIDAYS.

Selected student pieces from the 35th Student Touring Art Show will continue to be on display in the 'long hallway' at Hadley. A Hadley Art Tech student work won an award at the 2009 Scholastic Art Contest. The National Art Education Association has again recognized Hadley Art Tech as one of the outstanding visual arts programs in America for 2009-2010. Hadley is the only middle school to win this award 17 times.

The Illinois State Board of Education has designated Hadley's Exploratory Art Technology as an Outstanding Innovative Curriculum since 2002. The DuPage Regional Office of Education has awarded Hadley Art Tech the Outstanding Integrated Curriculum Award for successful and continuing school/business partnerships.

Jostens Publishing will work with Hadley Art Tech students to produce the school's digital yearbook for delivery in June, 2010.

Art Tech 'mid-terms' will occur during the ninth week of each semester. Individual student Grade Reports will be available to all students and their parents/guardians at the mid-term and again at the semester.

Art Tech students check out the newly repaired neon sign in class.
